Find the Perfect Coach for You
by Irene Wickstrom

Most coaches will offer a complimentary sample session during which both parties can get acquainted and see how they will work together. It is a time for both the coach and the client to test the waters and see if this is a relationship that will be productive and conducive to achieving the goals the client has in mind. It is a time to lay the ground rules and begin to explore some possibilities.
Most coaches will ask the client some basic questions. Questions such as what do you hope to get out of the coaching relationship will begin to identify some definite goals to work towards. Other questions such as are you in a committed relationship or do you have care-giving responsibilities for others will give the coach an idea of your personal life situation.
When hiring a professional coach, it’s smart to ask some basic questions yourself. Questions such as what is your niche or specialty will give the client an idea of the coaches’ strengths and areas of expertise. Do not be afraid to discuss fees. Coaches want their clients to make informed decisions and they want whatever is best for their clients. An ethical coach will not continue the coaching relationship if he perceives there to be a conflict of interest or if the coaching will pose undue financial hardship on the client. Neither will professional coaches offer their services for free. Occasionally, a coach may offer a limited time special price; however, it is ultimately up to the coaches’ discretion and should not be solicited by the client.
Once the coaching agreement is signed by both parties, the client and coach enter into what is known as the co-creative relationship. Both the client as well as the coach has some expectations of what each will bring to the sessions. The client expects the coach to be there for him and to guide him to find the answers that he seeks. He expects the coach to listen at a deep level and take his issues, feelings, and concerns seriously. Clients also like for coaches to share information with them that may assist them in reaching their decisions.
Coaches expect their clients to bring an agenda or topic of discussion to each meeting. They expect that the client will do their homework between sessions. Coaches expect their clients to participate fully in the sessions and accept responsibility for their actions. Coaches may make suggestions, but rarely will they do the work for the client.
In order to make a fully informed decision about whether coaching is right for you, please consider the following five tips:
1. Are you at a place in your life where you can devote your time and energy to work through issues that you identify?
2. Are you willing to do what it takes to make positive changes in your life and situation?
3. Are you financially able to enter into a coaching relationship knowing that it is an investment in yourself that will pay dividends many times over?
4. Are you able to step back and look objectively at your situation and accept that you and you alone are responsible for what has, is, and will happen?
5. Are you happy about and at peace with your decision to enter into a coaching relationship?
Coaching is a wonderful gift that you can give yourself. By making this investment in yourself, you are in essence acknowledging that you are worthy and deserving of life’s best. By allowing yourself to take this gift, you are freeing yourself up to receive blessings on many levels.

Happy Roof Over Your Head Day
Happy Roof Over Your Head Day

Today is  National Roof Over Your Head Day. It is a day of appreciation for the things we have, starting with the roof over our heads.

For most of us, a roof over our head signifies living in a house that protects us from the elements, keeping us warm, dry, and cozy. Unfortunately, not everyone is as lucky as you and I. There are many homeless people right here in our country. Some people live in a cardboard box on the street…… literally. There are millions of people around the world who live in poverty or disaster areas, and do not have a home to keep them comfortable and safe.

Happy Roof Over Your Head Day

Horse Racing Computer Games

Horse racing is one of the most popular spectator sports today. This is because of the fact that the sport is exciting and involves money. We cannot deny that most people who watch horse racing today do not come to observe “the behavior of the equine on an oval orbit”. Most people today go to the track in order to gamble. Although, there are some people there who want to see how the labor of the horse trainers will become fruit.

One thing we cannot deny, however, is the fact that most sports, like horse racing is being changed by technology. People who cannot go to the track today can bet, watch and win a horse race on the internet. People who do so either have no time or no energy to actually go to a track. Why should you spend the energy to get all dressed for complete strangers when you can watch the race wearing shorts in your living room? In fact, technology has taken this even further and produced the horse racing computer game.

What are the different types of horse racing video games?

1) Betting – many horse racing video games today allow people to bet their cash on a specific video horse. Some actually look like slot machines and allow people to bet their quarters on a specific horse. Others are just video machines that owners put up in bars in order to take bets from the patrons. Betting is an essential part of horse racing since many people are only interested in the sport because of the money. In many countries today, these machines are actually illegal.

2) Training – many horse racing computer games put the emphasis on training. In fact, many trainers use this type of software to help guide them in taking proper care of their horse. This horse racing computer game takes the data from various trainers and races and tries to imitate real life. By taking care and training your virtual horse properly, you can win a lot of races in this type of horse racing video game. Some developers actually add a lot of realism and even have features such as resource management and career profiles.

This type of horse racing computer game puts you inside the shoes of a trainer, a jockey, or a manager. You need to be able to choose your investments wisely and you need to learn how to train your horse properly in order to succeed at this horse racing computer game. This horse racing computer game also places your horse in simulated races against other opponents in order to judge how well you have done. Of course, it goes without saying that you do not beat the game until you beat the other horses.

3) Internet – the internet holds the future of computer gaming. Many people today are not satisfied with the action that a conventional horse racing computer game provides. Sometimes, it is better to test your skills as a trainer against another trainer. This is the reason why most horse racing computer games today have internet connectivity.

People who wish to test the skills of their virtual horses need only go online and race against each other. Of course, such races can be very big events and involve big money. Hey, you didn’t think that horse racing computer games would be free of gambling, did you?

Other Postures

The Diamond Posture (Vajrasana)
Kneel on a thick carpet or blanket with your knees close together. Sit back on your heels and stretch up from your hips, balancing your head well so that a line drawn through ear, shoulder, elbow and hip would be straight. You should sit up in this posture for greatest benefits.

The Locust (Salabhasana)
Most yoga students are familiar with this posture. Lie flat, face down, chin on floor. Make your hands into fists and push them either under your thighs to help the lift, or place them alongside your body. Exhale and lift legs from your hips, tightening your buttocks and stretching your legs up and back. Hold position for as long as possible, exhale, return to starting posture and repeat.

he Dog Stretch (Adho mukha svanasana)
Lie face down, legs stretched back, buttocks tightened and knees pulled back. Place hands just below shoulders, exhale and lift head, then chest, shoulders and torso, pushing down from your pelvis and straightening your arms. From the back of your head to your tailbone, your body should be curved back. Push shoulders back and down. Push head back more. Stay like this as long as possible with normal breathing. Come down very slowly, and relax.

The Twist (Bhardwajasana)
Kneel on the floor and sit back, bringing both feet to the right of your hips. Straighten your right arm, bring it across your body and turn to the left. Place your hand, palm down under your left knee. Exhale, turn your body more to the left and clasp your right elbow with your left hand, from the back. Turn your head and gaze over your right shoulder. Fold position for a few breaths and then twist and look back over your left shoulder. Shoulders should be at right angles to the body. Come back to starting position and repeat on other side. You should do this posture once every hour if you have lower back pain.

Cake Baking Tips
by Patricia B. Jensen

Expert cake baking tip guide makes your cake creation a sweet success! Proper baking and preparation ensure a fantastic finish to every party cake. Sweet secrets revealed!
Successful cake decorating is all about preparation. Baking and preparing your cake for decorating is a critical part of the total process.
In this article, I’ll share some expert tips for basic cake preparation to get your cake creation off to a fabulous start! These easy tips will ensure your cake decorating success.
Preparing a Cake Board –
Many specially themed cakes are too large to fit on a plate, so a cake board may be used. Cut a piece of stiff cardboard to the desired size. Cover with foil, or heavy coated wrapping paper.
I often use colored tissue paper, covered with colored cellophane of the type used to wrap gift baskets. This gives the desired background color, with a surface which is easy to wipe clean. It also makes a great background to enhance the presentation and photographing of your final cake masterpiece.
Preparing Cake Pans –
Use metal pans with a nonstick finish. Grease and flour pans before adding cake batter. Spread a thin layer of vegetable shortening on the bottom and sides of the pan. This works better than butter or margarine as the cake releases more easily from the pan. Sprinkle a little flour in each pan, and tilt to coat evenly. Shake out excess.
Testing for Doneness –
Follow baking instructions for time and temperature specified in the recipe. Cakes are done when a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. The cake should have pulled away from the sides of the pan and the top will spring back when touched lightly in the center.
Removing Cake from Pan –
Let cake cool for about 10 minutes before removing from the pan. Invert wire cooling rack over cake and flip over. Shake gently until cake releases from pan. Place a second wire rack over the bottom of the cake and flip over again so cake can cool right side up.
Preparing Cake for Frosting –
Slip each cake layer into a gallon-size freezer bag and place in the freezer for 30-45 minutes. An even easier method is to place each layer on its own plate and cover with plastic wrap before freezing. I poke a toothpick or two into the top of each layer to keep the plastic wrap from sticking to the cake’s surface.
Light freezing firms up the cake just right and allows you to easily brush any crumbs from the surface prior to frosting.
Best Base Frosting Recipe –
The thin texture of the base frosting allows easier coverage without pulling bits of cake and crumbs away from the cake. This is essential particularly if you are frosting white over chocolate cake. When base coat is done, frost over with your desired finish frosting.
3 cups powdered sugar, sifted
1/2 cup butter or margarine, softened
1/4 cup milk 1/2 tsp. vanilla
Combine powdered sugar, butter, milk and vanilla in a large bowl. Beat with electric mixer until smooth. Add milk 1 tsp. at a time to desired consistency. Frosting should be fairly thin. This is a great base frosting. Use if as a first coating layer to seal in any crumbs and give a nice smooth surface to the cake.
Cutting and Trimming –
You can create many different cake designs by cutting your cake layers into various shapes. Measure and mark your cutting line with toothpicks or wooden or metal skewers. Use a sharp knife and brush cake lightly with a soft pastry brush to remove crumbs prior to frosting.
Trim the rounded tops off cake layers to form a flat surface. Use a long serrated knife to trim with a gentle sawing motion. You may also wish to trim the edges of rectangular cakes to give a more professional look.
Frosting Tools –
Use various sizes of flexible metal spatulas for frosting. Large ones are used to smooth wide flat areas while a narrow tipped spatula is great for getting into small areas.
Toothpicks or wooden or metal skewers can be used to mark cutting lines on your cake.
A pastry bag with several tips is necessary to pipe on decorations. I have a reusable pastry bag that is easy to rinse clean. In a pinch, you can even use a plastic sandwich bag with a tiny hole snipped from one corner.
Now that you have all these important basics in place, you and your cake are primed and ready for frosting and decorating.

Comedy Podcasts

Many podcasts are available to subscribe to and watch
in a variety of genres, and one of these is the comedy
podcast. Every small scale wannabe writer has a chance
to become a comedian through podcasting, since the
low entry cost allows people to start podcasting with
minimum effort and money. To find some of these
comedy podcasters, check a podcast directory. A
podcast directory is a listing of many, sometimes
several thousands, of podcasts submitted and divided
into categories. A podcast directory will probably have
a large number of comedy podcasts available to
subscribe to.

These comedy podcasts are usually created by a small
team of people who do the work in their free time, as a
hobby, not as a source of income. Because it is a hobby,
they’re more willing to give the work away for free, for
nothing more than recognition, probably in the hopes
they can parlay that recognition into a more mainstream
job. Some more corporate groups also put together
comedy podcasts, however. The satirical comedy web
site puts out a regular comedy podcast,
featuring readings from their fake news site.

Placing a comedy podcast on the Internet has several
advantages for the creators. They get to showcase their
work, easily distributing their art to many people. This
following is likely to be be unusually passionate,
following the artist with more enthusiasm than the
artist’s average audience. The comedian has a chance to
be more open with the audience, engaging in a sort of
dialogue with them. The comedian broadcasts the files,
which enter the computer of the user, already a more
personal level than simply hearing the jokester on the
radio or on television. Compedy podcast subscribers
will often then write back to the podcaster, or leave
comments on the blog which often accompanies a
podcast site. This can give them a degree of input and
connection with the writers of the comedy podcast that
is far removed from other styles of comedy distribution.

The writers and producers of a comedy podcast thus
benefit from several advantages of the podcast form. It
is cheap and easy to set up, and uses a distribution
mechanism that is also easy to use. The way the podcast
form is designed, as well, creates greater connection
between the producer and the subscribers. The comedy
writer has a greater ability to interact with the
subscribers and to find out what they appreciate or do
not. Because podcasting is so simple to get involved in,
requiring only a small investment to get started, many
amateur comedy writers have begun starting their own
shows and distributing the feed. It is likely, because of
the unique connection podcasting offers between writer
and listener, that we will see at least some of these
amateur comedians make the leap to the professional

The College Student’s Guide for EASY WEIGHT LOSS!
by Diana Keuilian

Whoever told you that weight loss was difficult never read this article!
Weight loss is a hot topic among college students today, especially considering the fact that most college freshmen gain half a pound every week! Since the schedule of college students is almost always hectic, weight loss efforts are not a priority. With so little extra time it is impractical to join the latest diet fad or commit to sweating in the gym for hours at a time. Are all college students destined to grow outward with each passing year, or is there a simple way for them to reclaim a healthy figure? If you struggle with your own battle of the bulge, read on for five sure-fire ways to drop a few of those unwanted pounds, and more importantly learn how you can prevent packing them in the first place!
TIP #1: Burn it in the AM
What is the first thing you do when you wake each morning? Hit the snooze button for an extra ten minutes of sleep? What if I told you that taking those ten minutes to strap on your sneakers and walk briskly around campus would result in weight loss? It has been proven that aerobic activity done on an empty stomach forces your body to recruit energy from storage. This energy is stored in the form of fat on various parts of your body. Starting tomorrow take ten minutes out of your morning to walk briskly before breakfast. Do not sprint or try to walk as quickly as possible, simply walk at a pace that you could comfortably hold a conversation. This seemingly small activity, when done consistently, will produce surprising weight loss results!
TIP #2 Forget Your Late Night Snack
I know I am not the only one who enjoys eating a snack after dinner! Although comfort food seems to taste better right before bed, it is also more prone to stick with us when eaten late at night. It has been proven that not eating three hours before bed reduces fat storage throughout the night. If you go to bed at 10pm, finish eating for the day no later than 7pm. Once you have made this a habit you will be ecstatic over the long-term weight loss!
TIP #3 Kiss that Frappuccino Goodbye
What tastes better than a frothy, venti frappuccino smothered in whip cream and chocolate syrup? While blended coffee beverages have rapidly gained popularity with college students, their caloric tallies have been all but ignored. Whether you are an avid Starbucker, or only wander in for an occasional treat, it is important to know the truth about what you are drinking. The average Venti sized frappuccino weighs in at 530 calories. This staggering number equals 2.5 bagels, or one third of the recommended daily calories for an average woman. Not only is this an extreme amount of calories to be consumed in a beverage but the calories come purely from sugar, which is easily stored as fat. Next time you are in line at the coffee shop and find yourself eyeing a sugary beverage, redirect your attention to the tea selection, or stick with an old fashioned cup of coffee.
TIP #4 Fuel Your Fire
Have you ever tended a campfire? You probably remember continuously adding sticks and branches to keep the fire from running out of fuel. Your body’s metabolism is similar in its need for constant fuel. Eating a small meal every three hours is a great way to keep your metabolism high all day long. When your metabolism is high you burn more calories throughout the day and are less likely to store fat. Rather than eating 2 or 3 large meals a day, and allowing your ‘fire’ to go out, giving way to hunger pains, try eating a small meal every three hours and be amazed at your weight loss results.
TIP #5 Curb Your Carbs
I’m sure sometime in the past year you have found yourself subjected to the testimony of a converted ‘low-carb’ enthusiast. While these people may look great it is definitely not the right diet for everyone. Extreme fatigue, crankiness and downright impracticality are what make this diet a tough cookie to swallow. Cutting one or two carb-filled items out of your daily diet can make a huge difference in meeting weight loss goals. While I wouldn’t recommend throwing out your breadbasket entirely, consciously cutting carb-filled items out of your daily food intake is a great idea. If you normally have a sandwich for lunch make it open-faced, thus cutting out half of the bread. If you enjoy eating pasta for dinner reduce your pasta portion and add extra vegetables. These minor changes to your daily diet will prove themselves priceless when you step onto the scale!
It is you against the bulge, and now that you are armed with these 5 tips for easy weight loss, I am confident that you are going to win! Keep in mind that consistency is the key. The more effort that you put into implementing these 5 tips into your daily lifestyle the quicker the unwanted pounds will disappear! Want more information on college weight loss?

Happy Eat a Red Apple Day
Happy Eat a Red Apple Day

It is really easy to participate in this special day. There are thousands of varieties of apples grown all over the planet. Your mission today, is to pick an apple among all of these varieties, and eat it.

A little apple trivia: The science of growing apples is called pomology.

Celebrate this special day. Select a juicy piece of the “Forbidden fruit” and have a happy Eat a Red Apple Day

Different Types of Apple Trees

In the past, there have been only a couple different kinds of apple trees that you could buy. But now, thanks to the wonders of genetic engineering, if you want to buy an apple tree you are able to choose between many different types of apples and flavors. Here I will outline five different popular types of apples that you can consider for your first apple tree.

First introduced in Japan, the Fuji apple has been around since 1962. The Fuji apple has yellow-green skin with red streaks down the side. The inside is delicious and sweet. It is white, firm, crunchy, and very flavorful. It becomes ripe in the middle of September, but tastes the best if it is left to fully mature until October or November. These apples will start growing early and grow in abundance. They are good for pollinating other apples. The Fuji tree can tolerate wet, dry, or poor soil, but the fruit quality will most likely reflect the quality of the soil. The apples always taste the best when they are fresh, and are great for cooking.

Gala apples are a wonderful tasting import from New Zealand. The Gala apple has yellow skin with a slight hint of red, and it is medium sized. The insides are yellow, very juicy, firm, crisp, and smell excellent. When they are fresh they are one of the best tasting apples you can grow. They grow quickly, and the trees bear heavily. They become ripe in late July. They are generally not used for cooking, just because Fuji is a better alternative. The trees can grow in wet, dry, and poor soil as well.

The delicious Brae Burn apples’ color varies from gold with red streaks to almost completely red. It was first popularized some time in the late 1940’s. It was also originally from New Zealand along with the Fuji, and is now the best selling apple in Germany. The insides are white, crisp, aromatic, firm, and juicy. They are sweet, but also slightly tart. The size varies from medium to large. They were introduced to the United States around 1980, and met with great enthusiasm. They are some of the most popular apples in the world. They generally don’t become brown too quickly after being cut. They become ripe around October or November.

An Apple a Day!
An Apple a Day!

As red as its name proclaims, the Red Delicious apple is very tall and large. Their yellow insides are crisp, sweet, juicy, and delicious. They are grown across the country, and are great to put in salads. They are usually recognized by their distinct heart shape. They were first introduced in 1874 in Peru, Iowa. They become ripe in mid to late September. They are usually best when they are fresh off the tree.

Golden Delicious apples have great, juicy flavor. Their insides are firm, white, crisp and sweet. They are great for cooking because even when they are cooked or baked they keep their great taste and shape. The skin is thin and soft. They are great for salads. They range in size from medium to large. They are shaped much like the red delicious apple. The insides are crisp, juicy, sweet, and mild. Many people enjoy them, although they bruise rather easily. They become ripe in late September. They are good for many purposes, and they last a long time if not handled roughly.
